An Unwanted Guest An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found this book at my local thrift store for about $2 and when I read the back of it, I knew I had to pick this book up. This was my first read by Shari Lapena and it will not be my last. I have noticed she has 2 other books out and I am already looking to pick those up. I did opt to listen to this on audio and I loved it. I don't normally go for mystery novels but this one intrigued me and It did not disappoint! The writing was fantastic and very easy to read/listen to.

This story starts with a group of people going to a hotel for many different reasons but the weather turned bad with a horrible ice storm and stranded them for the weekend. There was limited staff and around 8 different people that were stranded in the dark when the lights go off the first night of the weekend.

One by one, the guest begin to die off and you start getting the POV's of each guest and staff that is there. Each one is innocent and wondering what is going on and who is killing off the guest. Or are they all innocent? This book does have some eerie moments if you read/listen to it at night alone. I found my self looking around after I would stop listening to the audio book like "Holy Crap" that is freaky!

This story reminds me of the game/movie "clue." If you are a clue fan, then this is for you.

I highly recommend this read and now that I have one mystery under my arm, I seem to want more.
