Review: The Kiss of Deception

May 31, 2018

The Kiss of Deception The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Mary E. Pearson.I will be reading more. Moving on to the next book in this series.

I loved this book so much. I am so invested in the lives of these characters. I have not been pulled in this much I read Caraval last year. I can't believe it took me so long to pick this series up. I have loved these covers and I own the books but it wasn't until I seen it on my library so I picked it up.

Lira doesn't like feeling trapped in a Kingdom where she can no be who she wants to be and love who she wants to love. She runs away but before she left, she stole something from the kingdom and now, not only is she being by the prince that she was supposed to wed but also a hired an assassin for the item she stole.

I do really enjoy the love story that unfolds by Lira and Rafe, the prince (which Lira is no aware is the prince)

I also love the story of Pauline. She was such a faithful friend to Lira. I think it would be a great spin off to write about Pauline and let her have her won story. But I haven't finished the rest of the books yet so the story of Pauline may change. (No spoilers please) :)

This book was a page turner. I could not listen to this book fast enough. It was so good. All I could do when I got off work was pop in my ear buds and listen to this and I would even go to bed early just to lay in my bed to listen to it.

I highly recommend this book.

Review: Nowhere to Hide

May 29, 2018

Nowhere to Hide Nowhere to Hide by Tracey Lynn Tobin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have followed Tracey on Youtube for a couple of years and just found out recently that she had wrote a couple of books. I had to give them a read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read with a very good plot line to follow. The kindle edition has about 230 pages and it did not feel like it.

I would recommend this book.

Review: The Cruel Prince

May 24, 2018

The Cruel Prince The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Holly Black, even though I do own several. I just have not read them. I will now move on to her other books I have.

I enjoyed this book. It is full of magic and Fae. I think this is one of my first Fae books and I can I say I truly loved it. It took me some time to get into it but I did love the plot. The character were very described very well.

I love the story of Jude and her sisters. They pulled away from the human world but a tragic death. The story consist Jude trying to gain trust in the courts of FAE. She also has some challenges to go through to prove her worth. Then you just have those that just done like her because she is human.

I listened to this on audio book. The narrator did a great job.

Review: To Kill a Kingdom

May 15, 2018

To Kill a Kingdom To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. It was such a cute twist on Little Mermaid. Her mother is a twist on Ursula.

It starts with Lira, a siren, that keeps letting her mother down. Lira has what her mother calls "Human emotions" so she takes to cursing Lira to land with legs. Lira has until Solstice to return the heart of the Prince Elian. Lira is the next in throne to be the Sea Queen and also known as Princess Bane.

Prince Elian is a price of a kingdom of Gold but his heart is on the sea. He is a siren killer and he is hunt for the Princess Bane. In his search for the EYE of KETO, he finds a woman floating on the water and rescues her. What he doesn't know is what just happened to Lira. She was cast to the human land and needing the heart of the her rescuer, what will happen??

I love this story so much. I love watching it unfold. There are some things I did not see coming and the author did a great job on the world building. I could see it unfolding right before my eyes as she was telling the story.

This is a must read.

Review: Hunting Prince Dracula

May 10, 2018

Hunting Prince Dracula Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I want to start by saying I LOVED book 1. I was so excited to start book 2, but as it turned out, I did not enjoy this book as much as book one. It took me a little over a month to finish this book. There were moments of it that were really good and then moments that I felt were not so good. I would set the book down for a few days and then I would pick it back up again. I pushed my way through because I really wanted to know where the next book fits in. I will continue with the series only because I really like the characters but I just wasn't thrilled about the story of this book. Hoping book 3 will be better.

This book takes off right where book 1 leaves. Audrey Rose and Thomas are on a train headed to London to one of Europe's best schools of forensic medicine. Things begin to happen on the train and they begin there journey from there. They go from Stalking Jack the Ripper to Hunting Prince Dracula. Audrey and Thomas were really not welcomed at the academy from the moment they arrive. They are being watched. But blood baths begin to happen around them and the search for the killer begins. They see bit marks on victims and bodies drained of blood that only means one thing... There are vampires. But how can this be? So they study of this story begins.

It was okay. I just wasn't impressed I guess. After really enjoying book and having such high expectation for this book, I let myself down.

Review: A Rare Book of Cunning Device

May 2, 2018

A Rare Book of Cunning Device A Rare Book of Cunning Device by Ben Aaronovitch
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Honestly, I listened to this one day and the next forgot what it was all about. So I can't tell you if this worth listening to. I just sort of remember its supposed to be about a book they think is haunted.

It wasn't my favorite short story since I don't really remember what It was about.

I may give it another listen later and if I think it is better I will come back to revise my rating.
