The Way I Used to Be The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a 5* read for me!

This story is so touching. It may be fiction but so many lives are effected daily by rape and live with this horror in them.

This story is about a girl named Eden that was raped in her own home with her very own family in the rooms next to her and they knew nothing. After trying to tell her family what happened, she was cut off several times to never get it out. She felt she had no one to trust. She was tormented in her own mind that made her live her life in misery and therefore, it put those around her in misery. She was bitter, rude, and short with those that would try to get close to her. She went through her entire high school years feeling this way. The once sweet girl did not even recognize the person she had become.

She met several people along the way that would try to understand her but she never would let them in. She was hiding this secret that was destroying her piece by piece.

I highly suggest this book. I can not imagine living with the torment she lived with all those years. We can be around people daily and not even know they struggle with secrets that are killing them on the inside.

Thank you to this author for writing such a profound book. I will continue to read more books from Amber Smith.
